State Board of Education Allows Ritz to Handle ‘A-F School Grades’

Despite State Superintendent Glenda Ritz losing her hearing Friday about whether she could pursue the lawsuit against her own board, the board agreed to Glenda’s initial recommendations about the A-F Grade assessment process.

The schools will get their grades and have an opportunity to appeal before the board finalizes and signs off on them in December.

According to Dan Carden at the NWI Times, “The board opted to “do it the way we’ve always done it” — and seemingly gave more power to Ritz — by agreeing to have her Department of Education calculate tentative grades and privately send them to schools Nov. 15.”
